Emergency response drilling in Central Mozambique

In March 2019, the cyclone Idai has hit Central Mozambique causing heavy rainfall and widespread flooding in Sofala and Manica provinces. 1.85 Million people have been affected and many have lost their home. Safe drinking water was a key priority to avoid cholera outbreaks. Dorcas and Practica have partnered to establish a manual drilling team that could construct drinking water wells for the internally displaced people. While most areas were inaccessible for the conventional drilling companies, the manual drilling teams could reach the affected areas by small boats and provide an immediate response.

Goals

To establish and equip a manual drilling team in Central Mozambique in order to drill clean drinking water wells for the internally displaced people after the cyclone IDAI.

Budget

32 926 EURO
